Day 6 - Sayonara my Friends ... ...

Today marks the last day of the Homestay Programme. Pupils gathered again in Gunge Elementary for a final day of learning and interaction with the pupils.

The Pupils were taught calligraphy and the learn to write 'Friendship' in Japanese and also drew anything they like using the calligraphy brush.

The Riverlites then had another session of Taiko with the local Taiko performing group.

A group photo with the Taiko group and the Riverlites were all given a notebook as a memento.

The school requested for the Riverlites to demonstrate a lesson using iPad. A lesson was conceptualised and it was to teach conversational language using the apps avaiable.

The Pupils of Gunge Primary bade farewell to the Riverlites after lunch and everyone had a heavy heart when passing past the pupils of Gunge Elementary.

Last learning activity of the day is the visit to Awaji Earthquake Museum to learn about plate tectonics with the preserved fault line shift of the 1995 Awaji Earthquake.

Farewell and Thank You Party in the evening with the host family brings the Homestay to a closure as the Riverlites hosted and entertained everyone.

It was a night of fun and laughter and this year, there was a taiko and dance performance with the Mascot of Awaji Island as well.

The night ended with great food, entertainment and company amongst friends. The Riverlites will be heading home early tomorrow morning. Parents, do remember to fetch your children at Changi Airport at around 1640h as they fly back via SQ 619.
