Day 5 - Field treat ... ...

as the Riverlites went on a field trip that is an experience of a lifetime!

The day started with the Riverlites folding origami crane with the grade 2 pupils from Gunge Elementary.

At 9.30a.m., the Riverlites headed out to the rice padi field to try plant the food source which they eat almost daily.

Planting rice is never fun, bend from morning till the next group come ... ...

Kobe newspaper reporter came on site to interview the Riverlites on their experience.

Lunch was served back in school and the Riverlites had a taste of what the local pupils eat when in school.

The Riverlite then arrived at Mitsu Precision Engineering plant to understand what precision engineering is and some of the parts that are produced in the plant.

Later in the afternoon, the pupils visited Tulip House. There, they were treated to a Taiko performance.

The pupils were of course given the opportunity to drum away on the taiko.

Next, the Riverlites harvested onions; which is one of the many things that Awaji Island is famous for.

Look at the numbers of onions in their hands and unfortunately, nothing can be taken.

Next up, strawberries...

Pupils were given a bowl to fill it up with strawberries and those, they can bring back.

Some were given a bowl and some a tray like Jean who looks extremely happy. However, she shared her harvest with her friends and teachers.

That is all for today's entry and tomorrow, the Riverlites will be spending a full day in Gunge Elementary to interact with the pupils there. They will have a day of classroom experience and do watch out for it as it will be the last entry for the blog.

  1. Hi Tze Minh,

Not sure if you've bought something there. You can spend on things that you like(or Gor-Gor & En-En like), mummy trust that you are a wise spender ^^)

    Best regards,
    Mummy
